Is node.js suitable for complex projects? Or is it better not to dream and write in php?

It depends on what complex projects are for you.
Do you dream of writing something on a node? If you want a fast application and just want to use a node for that, take php-pm and go. If you want to organize chats and stuff - take a node and implement chats on it and the main application in php.
I remember something like that a couple of years ago. But my advice to you is don't. The node scales worse, for something complicated with it, you really need to be familiar with it and know js well...

What does "complex projects" mean?
Highly loaded? Will do well.
With complex business logic? Then it's a bad choice.
