CNC .htaccess + CI, what do you recommend?

A site written in CI has a filter.
The filter works on a GET request.
There is a goal, to make some pages with filtered materials - landing and promote in search engines.
(i.e. something like a category in WP)
Question 2:
1. Does this idea have a right to life?
2. How to replace in .htaccess:
site.com/blog/?parametr=article
with
site.com/blog/article
