Cloud storage in PHP, where to start?

Naturally, you don’t need to start from the very beginning: registration, authorization, personal account, design, routing, everything is ready, but what about the files? Only a couple of options come to mind:
1) Store only the path to the file
in the database 2) Store in the database itself, but this will create a load
What do you advise?

If you have such questions, you most likely should not make cloud storage.
