Cinema 4D vs Blender. What are the pros and cons?

Haven't done 3D in a long time. Now there is a desire to tighten this area. Previously (15 years ago) I used 3ds Max + VRay. I remember these dances with tambourines and rough renderings for 10 minutes.

Actual tasks - building photorealistic scenes (for illustrations) with the possibility of subsequent simple animation (for footages).

I re-read a lot of comparisons, but many of them are clearly purchased in the direction of Cinema 4d. In short: they are about the same in terms of power, C4D has more animation options, Blender is more difficult in terms of learning, but it is free and has a huge community (and, therefore, more gadgets).

I want to ask the opinion of real artists - which of this software, in your opinion, is the most convenient for starting work from scratch and scalable in the context of further study if necessary?

In general, rummaged through a lot of different information.
Someone asked the question, why do we need the rest of the tools if there is Blender.
I was pleased with the answer:
"1. Yes, because giant studios are already on the rails of Maya, 3Ds and, in some places, Houdini (despite the fact that it is also relatively new). It is very expensive, difficult and expensive to retrain specialists to work in other software.
2 Support If something technically goes wrong, and deadlines are on fire, you won't tell anyone."
To summarize:
3DS Max - Architecture, product
Maya - Animation and game development (seemingly the leader in the animation industry)
Cinema4D - Motion, advertising (they say the easiest entry into 3d, but I personally did not go)
Houdini - VFX, simulation (perhaps the most complex tool)
Zbrush - character sculpting (simple, fast, visual)
Blender - Universal, loses Maya and C4d in terms of animation and motion capabilities. Some find it difficult, some find it easy. I personally really liked the first steps. The most dynamically developing tool due to open source and GPL.

Hey! Blue is strong in parametric modeling, Mograph for animation is simply an indispensable thing, GPU renders like Octane. If you choose between Blender and Blue, of course the latter, but Blender is very promising.

A photorealistic picture is made by a renderer, not a modeler. You can model in C4D and then render in VRay. Lotions are needed for flowing water, moving hair, crumpled clothes, breaking glasses and smoking smoke)) Lotions are made for all modern packages. The leader in gadgets is probably Houdini from sidefx. The C4D interface is more for artists, the Blender interface is more for techies. Popular zbrush in which you sculpt rather than draw. The model turns out to be high-poly, not optimal for games and realtime, but the child manages how to sculpt from plasticine.
