Choosing a university for admission. HSE or ITMO?
Good evening. This year I graduated from the bachelor's degree and decided to enter the master's program. There is a choice between two universities. I have already entered ITMO, I am waiting for the results from HSE, but I am confident in my abilities. Actually, I go to the university for a pretentious crust and the opportunity to listen to something interesting. After much agony, I still can't choose. So I decided to ask this question.
I enrolled in a double degree program at ITMO and I am completely satisfied with the university, but rumors about the terrible living conditions in hostels scare me.
At HSE, we can assume that I entered the big date, but I am confused by a certain spread of the university in several areas, unlike ITMO, as well as not very good reviews about the program.
Which university is better?
Ps I have no problems with work. And I know very well about the employer's attitude to diplomas.

I understand that the humanities are interested. If so, then ITMO, of course, specializes more in the production of IT specialists. Based on this, the level of education in the higher school of economics should be much higher in the area of interest, in terms of, if you want to "listen to something interesting." But on the other hand, it’s easier to study at ITMO in the humanities faculties (I hope I didn’t exaggerate too much), and besides, assessment is based on a point system, although HSE may be the same. Well, plush in the form of a variety of student clubs, budget vouchers, endless events, free tickets to theaters, etc.
At the expense of the hostel, it depends on where you settle. There are several dorms, but the most famous are Vyazemsky lane (metro Petrogradskaya) and MSG (metro Park Pobedy). Beloved by students is Vyazemka. Those who are from MSG, where it is quite comfortable, where there is no unnecessary noise, drunken students, want to move to Vyazemka. Because there is no, roughly speaking, curfew. You can always agree with the guard, spend, without any special mutes, friends. Yes, and all ITMO students. But there are also disadvantages. If they settle on the second floor of the old block, then there are usually corridors smelling of fish and other exotic things, because mostly Chinese people live there. There are lovers of almost everyday parties, so it can be noisy. If we talk about prices, then Vyazemka is cheaper. I don't remember the prices. The best option is to live in a block (2 rooms for three people), there is a separate shower and toilet (one for both rooms).
In general, ITMO is a sea of communication.
And of course he studied at the university (specialist). In early July of this year, I received the long-awaited pulp.
And so he is still a member and teacher of the student club "Live Sound". We have a sea of music and learning to play the guitar (and piano). If you choose ITMO, come, we will be happy ;)
PS: the music club has come to promote
You know, if the only things that scare you at ITMO are the conditions in the hostel - write to me, I'll show you pictures of the SevGU hostel where we are put)
Don't make a choice based on this criterion
HSE. At ITMO, only Parfenov and Shalyto are normal, the rest of the departments are 4/10.
A friend of mine worked at the ITMO admissions committee in 2013-2015, and he told me that a talented guy entered ITMO with a bunch of points in the Unified State Examination. They settled him in the ITMO hostel, it seems to be on Grivtsov, and not on Vyazemsky! In short, left-wing guest workers settled in the room with him .. the boy ran for two weeks - he complained, but the freshman - who cares about him. One night, the gasters were drinking, it almost didn’t come to a massacre, and from the leadership of the hostel they told him that the gasters are sacred and you don’t have to quarrel with them .. in short, the guy expelled and the next year he entered the Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology! True, I lost a year because of ITMO!
