Dear Habrazhitel! There is a fleet of computers on which I would like to install Windows 7. Most of the tasks performed on it are working on the network, on the Internet, and with a certain set of programs typical of web programmers, office workers, accountants.

Tell me, how much will it be economical / stupid / enough to choose the Home Basic / Home Advanced vs. Professional edition? I saw a comparison table of editions . And those differences that are indicated there will not be used at all.

Are there even deeper differences?

Good evening.
We have 40 computers in the park. And the manager, and accounting, and web programmers, and designers.
Only on 5 computers is Professional, probably bought with a hangover -))
The rest are Home basic OEM.
Both programmers and designers do not feel deprived!

If you don’t need a domain and related buns, then prof. version is not needed.
Well, home basic and extended are distinguished by the presence of all sorts of multimedia player pieces and embellishments.
In general, for a SOHO office, take Home Basic and not worry.

As far as I know, editions starting with Home Extended can be used in the office. Basic can not be used in the office

If you do not care about what can come with the check and all the consequences, then you can install the Starter Windows as well.
The price of an OEM installation kit with a genuine LICENSE for home use is only one and a half kilo rubles.
I have such a starter on my laptop, and nothing ... The only “inconvenience” of the sarter is that there is no way to wallpaper the desktop with regular tools from the box :)
The second purely programming limitation of the starter is the 32-bit system (well, this is an amateur).
