Car cigarette lighter from a power supply company, is it dangerous?

How many amperes does a regular Zhiguli cigarette lighter consume? IMHO 7-10A
The power of my kilowatt PSU should be enough
. Do I really risk my motherboard and the PSU itself
? Is it dangerous to put such a load on the poor 12v line of my long-suffering PC?
Is it worth putting current-limiting resistors and diodes to protect against reverse currents?
