Cannon LBP2900 printer setup on Ubuntu 13.04 (12.04)
I can not install the Cannon LBP2900 printer on Ubuntu (I tried two different ones, it happened). Help, good people, I have already gone around all the forums, tried everything. Even a tambourine. Not placed! I download firewood from offsite (for some reason there are only .rpm packages), I try to install it in different ways - it doesn’t work out. It seems to be set, but still says that some kind of filter is missing. I copy this filter (found something similar) to the desired directory, now it says that dangerous rights are set for it. I do not know what to do! Do not throw away the printer :~( Maybe someone has experience of similar dances with a tambourine?

I have one. I also suffered from Ubuntu for a long time, I constantly restarted CUPS in order to print. Then he moved to a macbook and the problem resolved itself (there was also no direct driver, I installed a related one, but after that everything began to work stably). It's a shame, because it's a good printer, but there are so many problems with the software for it.
Canon does not have drivers for CUPS for many models, and for those that do, they are of poor quality. You should not take Canon if you plan to print not only from Windows.
