Can the main partition of a hard drive be made extended?
Available: Acer Aspire E1-570G laptop, Windows 7 is installed on the local drive C:/, local drive D:/ is empty.
I want to put on D: / Ubuntu, and on C: / leave Windows. And I would like to be able to choose which OS to load when turned on.
Decided to make a plan of action before starting. While I think about the breakdown of the disk.
Found this article: http://help.ubuntu.ru/manual/disk_partition . There they free up space on the hard drive and create an extended partition. And I already have this section (as far as I understand) - in Windows it is called "Local disk D: /". And I need to make it extended.
Question:Can an existing partition be expanded? Or will you have to delete it, and create a new partition in its place and indicate that it is an "Extended partition"?
Or do I need to do something else for my task?
PS I could confuse something, I'm not strong in terminology.
Do not kick hard if the question is stupid, for the first time I work seriously with these Linuxes of yours.
