Can the downloaded template affect the indexing of the site by search engines?

Greetings!
A year ago I was developing an online store and, in order to save time, I decided to find a ready-made design that would only need to be adjusted to the desired topic. But after I found a ready-made online store template, I came up with the idea to save money on buying this template, so I found it on the Internet for free in the archive. While adjusting it, I noticed that some of the styles are a bit crooked and different from the original, but the site was created on this template anyway.
And now I have a question: is it possible that due to the fact that the template was not purchased, it negatively affects the indexing by search engines and its position in the search results?

In official sources from Google and Yandex, I have never seen that for SEO you need to buy a template, so it’s unlikely that the fact of a purchase has a bad effect on SEO. I promoted several projects on similar "saved" templates, in general, everything was as usual.
There are many reasons for low positions:

  • the fact that, in principle, this is a template, not a unique design (search engines love everything unique)
  • in the free archive there may be some left links to left sites, other vulnerabilities (you need to look in the webmaster panels section security and outgoing links)
  • frankly weak content
  • corny huge competition in a niche and region
  • slow speed, bad hosting
  • perhaps they decided to save on SEO (as with a template), and did the optimization themselves (poorly thought out the structure, didn’t collect queries, didn’t choose the most effective ones, sent them incorrectly for indexing, etc.)

But it is unlikely that this is an unpurchased template.

So no one knows that he was not bought
. If there is no protection, then what's the difference

If the template has technical errors and viruses, then it may

There is no difference. And PS doesn't care if it's a template or a unique design.
The main possible problem is that the template may contain backdoors or vulnerabilities due to which the site can be hacked. Cleaning "worms" from the site or from the index of the page generated by the doorway uploaded to the site is still a pleasure, and hacking can cause pessimism. PS do not want their users to be endangered, and positions in the issue can be lost for a long time.
But the "null" template in itself cannot be the reason for the pessimization of the site.
