Can't set password via mysql_secure_installation?

Hello.

I reinstalled MySQL to version 5.7.29, when I try to set the root password after installation, it gives an error

There's some nonsense going on with MySQL from the repository. I would recommend installing Percona ( https://www.percona.com/doc/percona-xtrabackup/2.1... or some other fork.

Look for a temporary root password in the log, enter it and set your own
