Can I use the date format dd.mm.yyyy when importing a database?

Good day to all.
There was a following problem. There is a csv file with data (about 200K lines) that needs to be imported into the mysql database. The data has a "Date" field and data in it in the format dd.mm.yyyy. Can I import data with this date format and then change the data type to Date? Or do I need to somehow alter the date format in the CSV file?
