Can I use my old phone as a remote control?

There is an old phone with a OneXT Care-Phone 2 docking station. From its appearance, the idea arose to make it a remote control for a future smart home. The bottom line is, is it possible to write your own firmware on this thing? Thanks in advance :)
PS I'm a programmer - I can handle it.

I think that this will be an extremely difficult and not rewarding task. it’s better to buy any ready-made remote control - save more, or use any old or Chinese phone on android - there are more opportunities and it’s easier to develop - just an application.

He does not have a single wireless interface, except for gsm. So-so remote will work, even if you break through the proprietary bootloader.
