Can I use access points and a controller from different manufacturers?

Can I use wireless access points and a controller from different manufacturers? For example, the Mikrotik controller, and the access points are Cisco. Or vice versa. One system administrator has already answered me that it is impossible. Is it so?

And from what, excuse me, the devil Mikrotik controller will understand the logic and control of Cisco points and vice versa.
The system is always built on a monovendor (and then compatible devices), well, or the supported hardware of a friendly manufacturer is indicated in the specifications.

So it doesn't work. Different vendors have a completely different vision of what the controller should do. Some people think that the controller should only be engaged in provisioning (which is IMHO true), others are trying to shove the firewall functionality into the controller, others are still some kind of functionality that has little to do with the radio at all.
With regards to cisco, mikrotik, and ubiquity - no, I only understand the native controller.
