Can I use a WD Purple hard drive for a torrent downloader and DLNA server?

I would like to know if there is a system sharpened for torrents, but the old disk is retired.
A friend has a similar disk, he can give it away, the question is, can it be used at all for permanent downloading of torrents, sharing samba and movies on a DLNA server?
How blasphemous would such its use be in general, because it is imprisoned for video surveillance systems.

What does a DVR do? Writes video from 16+ cameras simultaneously to 16+ files, while recording allows N users to read archives - view N+ video files in real, fast or slow speed. Controls free space and overwrites old files as needed. And all this in 24/7 mode.
What do you want from a disk? Download torrents - write several fragments to it at the same time, distribute torrents, watch movies - read several files simultaneously with recording.
What's the Difference? I didn't notice...

It is strange to believe that disks optimized for different tasks should differ in something other than firmware. I don’t see anything strange in the fact that the pieces of iron are released in one batch, and the firmware in the controllers is filled with different ones.
And on the question - Purple is just imprisoned for multi-threaded simultaneous recording. Only the video, most likely, is written in large pieces, and the torrents are exactly small. The disk firmware probably has specific write / read buffering settings, but they will either speed up work with torrents, or simply have no effect compared to a disk that is not optimized for any specific task.
