Can I use a VPN instead of a white IP?

Good day! The situation is this: there is a computer with a gray IP, the provider asks for 150 rubles / month for the public IP service.
FirstVDS offers VDS for 90₽/month. Will I be able to set up a VPN on such a server and redirect all traffic from it to my home computer, as if it were the public IP of my computer?
If yes:

  • What can be read on this topic?
  • Does the VPN client need to be installed on a PC or on a router?
  • How can you check in advance the delays due to the appearance of the middle link and are they usually critical?
  • Is it possible, in addition to the VPN itself, to raise a regular server, i.e. to make the VPN forward specific ports?

VDS configuration:
Processor Intel Xeon 2 GHz 1 core
RAM 512 MB
Disk 10 GB
OS Ubuntu, CentOS, Debian
It seems to me that this should be enough for redirecting and a simple business card site.

In general, this is a standard scheme for solving such a problem. It is somewhat more secure than having a white IP on your router, but more confusing.

Does the VPN client need to be installed on a PC or on a router?

Do you mean home router? It is possible either way. If you raise a client on a router, the entire subnet can get to the VPS. If only on the computer - only the computer will hit.
How can you check in advance the delays due to the appearance of the middle link and are they usually critical?

Ping to VPS of course. In terms of criticality - decide for yourself, someone doesn’t bite for tens of seconds, and someone beats in milliseconds ... I have a VPS in Holland, the average ping is 90-95 ms, when I turn on the car that goes through it - YouTube slows down, but you can watch.
Is it possible, in addition to the VPN itself, to raise a regular server, i.e. to make the VPN forward specific ports?

The question is not clear. VPN does not redirect anything anywhere, it is a program for building an "opaque pipe" between point A and point B. What to shove into this pipe is decided by the axis itself, how you configure it.
The disk on the VPS is small, although it is certainly enough for el6, if without GUIs and control panels.
