You can't run any games on Linux - neither old nor new, especially if you have a community driver, not a commercial one (though it's a little better).
Old games were written for Windows and they simply do not work in wine (even games from a decent age, ten or fifteen years old), and new ones are able to put the system in an interesting position.
Linux is a system for work, to bring the entertainment and multimedia part there, you still have to break a box of files.

You can, those that are marked in the incentive as "SteamOS + Linux on Steam", there is a filter for them
