Can all social sharing buttons be redesigned and countered?

The designer drew wonderful buttons for social networks. Here is a screenshot:

Now, when it came to implementation, the performers (2 pcs.) said that it was impossible to do this, because. screw a counter that will count reposts from all the social networks that I need (see the screen above) + using your own design (as on the screen) will not work.
I doubt the competence of these people, so I ask these questions to you:
Is it really impossible? If yes, why? If not, how can I implement my plan (give links, write down the steps)?
