Can a trigger fire items?

I want to try to automate the activation / deactivation of data elements, based on the testimony of one of the elements, and I decided to start by taking an interest in ready-made solutions, maybe someone has already come across it.
Now there is a template that "smells" the piece of iron and automatically creates in the active state a traditional set of elements with keys:
ifInErrors, ifOuErrors, ifHCInOctets, ifHCOutOctets, ifAlias, ifStatus.
The question is, is it possible to configure a trigger that works with ifHCInOctets so that if there is traffic, the rest of the elements associated with the port on which there is traffic are activated, and if they are absent (for example, within 3-4 days), they are disabled?
something like
if Q8X00-LLD:ifHCInOctets.["{#SNMPINDEX}"].last(0)}>0 then ifOperStatus.["{#SNMPINDEX}"].status:
