Calling functions from .so?

The question is how to find out the declared functions in *.so . It is clear that the obvious option is that most libraries most likely have source codes. But we admit there is a certain closed . Yes, even let's say an open lib. The only option besides their reverse, to look at the functions, their parameters and return values, is to find their sources, or is there another option?

@DollyPapper

There are Head files for this, part of the source code where functions are declared.
