Calculations on a sound card?
It has long been known that it is possible to carry out numerical calculations on video cards, but is it possible to somehow adapt a sound card for this?

Most sound cards contain only DAC/ADC. There are, however, cards with a DSP chip that actually calculate something somehow.
Creative cards with an EMU10xxx processor and higher are the first things that come to mind. But the architecture of the processor is closed, it is difficult to understand what it can actually do. The reverse engineering of these chips seems to be carried out by the guys from kX, but about the commands and DSP structure ... In general, try to look at some docks on their website or ask on the kX driver forum.
On the other hand, there is RME, the HDSP series, they seem to have an open specification and you can write code for their processors. But for the price of one of their systems, you can buy a personal computer with a video card and calculate as much as you like on it, so the game is clearly not worth the candle.
Creative with all their CMSS, EAX and other hardware solutions.
Old Aureal Vortex with his A3D.
And if you don’t need to count, but still something else, you can make an excellent modem-network card from a sound card (we connect two sound cards crosswise output-input and write software), an ADC / DAC for analyzing the signal from sensors, an oscilloscope even did =)
