Buy motherboard and proc. with a new socket or leave the system and buy only the processor?

Happy New Year! Help me decide.
My config:
i3 2120 @ 3.30GHz
Asus P8H61-M LX2 (LGA1155) 8.00 GB of GTX 960
RAM The problem is in the processor, it does not pull new games, it needs to be changed, but the question arises, change to a new one with the same socket or change to a new motherboard , for a new socket... I would like to find a choice that would last as long as possible and cost less... I searched for a long time and came to the conclusion that if you change to a new percentage, then the i7 2600 from hands is not bad, cheap and upgrade essential. But I can't decide. Maybe someone in the know can give me some suggestions? Thank you.

Get an i7 2600 and don't worry. If the problem is only in games - enough for the eyes. And for everything else (office programs, the Internet, or occasionally pampering with professional graphics programs) - it will also do just fine.

Look at the costs.
Plus, after changing the processor, you will run into a video card. Personally, I see no reason to spend money and change the platform. Will not give a commensurate gain. Get an i5 or i7 for LGA1155.

Technically, any option is good. For the money - consider yourself:
1. Buy a used i7 and do not bathe.
2. Buy a used i7, sell your i3
3, Buy a fresh i7 and a new mom - sell your mom with an i3

Thank you. Yes, Liquidos, mainly for games, is there any reason why it will be enough for the eyes?
Thanks for the article, Melkij, opened my eyes. In general, Intel is not particularly striving to raise the performance bar, it is understandable why? If AMDi does not release anything similar and there is no hurry ...
Andrey Ermachenok, I basically figured out the issue, and realized that 1150 socket is dead, and 51 is expensive.
In general, after some digging, I found the following information and put it together, I don’t know how significant it is, but maybe it will come in handy for someone ...
There is no special point in upgrading the mother, the maximum that you get on ordinary monitors with the same resolution as mine is 1920x1080 is an increase of 10-15 fps, while paying 20-25k more rubles than buying i5 or i7 from hands. Why doesn't it make sense? Because everything rests on the console, until they are updated, then you should not expect a breakthrough in the schedule. At first, I thought that my percentage, which I will buy i7 2600, can quickly become outdated, because technology does not stand still .... But then I changed my mind. A vivid example of this is The Witcher 3, which made a downgrade of graphics for the sake of consoles and the developers spoke openly about this. At the same time, the game was shown back in 13!
Really no one was able to screw a couple of detailed textures in 3 years? Hardly ... So I think that as long as new consoles are alive and games are riveted under them, then you should not think that in the next 5 years the graphics bar will rise so much that having bought a top percent now. on the old platform, you won't be able to play games at normal settings. And there you can already change the video card in 2 years, which the 2600 is quite capable of revealing. Plus, games will soon be made under directx 12, which will increase productivity by adding quality. It's true, only promises, but in any case, already something!
Am I right or am I wrong somewhere?
Ps This is just an opinion and nothing more, I will be glad if someone corrects me.
