Building Android for a specific device?

Hello. I have one Chinese tablet, and there is no Android on it. The search for the firmware was unsuccessful, and the manufacturer of this miracle offers to talk to his support by phone, refusing to provide the firmware to the device. But that is not the issue now. As far as I understand, it is possible to assemble Android for a specific device, but no matter how much I read on this topic, I could not find a sensible manual where this process would be described from beginning to end.
As far as I understand, you need to start with AOSP (well, or you can try to build Cyanogenmod). Next, you need to describe the configuration of the device with a system of directories and *.mk files, and then, as in a well-known cartoon:
3. ???
4. PROFIT!
It is not clear what actions to take for the rk2918 chip (a tablet is built on its basis), what to do with the driver for the touch screen (FT5406), where to get it and where to put it ... In general, it’s an incomprehensible mess in my head, and the more I read, the more I get confused. If someone has experience building Android for a real device, and not for an emulator, tell at least in general terms the procedure.
Thanks in advance.

If I had at least some version of the firmware for this miracle, I would not have asked this question =)
I uploaded the firmware from Arnova 10G2 to the tablet. Android started up, but the touch screen does not work, of course. Can I "hook" on the kernel from this firmware?
