Bring back familiar Gnome in Ubuntu 11.10

Hello everyone

After the update to 11.10, the gnome ceased to be a gnome in the form it was in 11.04.
(Applet panels are not customizable, the right button doesn't work on them, etc.)
Is there an easy way to get back functionality without downgrading?

As a result, I still transferred one laptop to Ubuntu 11.10 + Gnome 3 fallback, did this guide askubuntu.com/questions/58172/how-to-revert-to-gnome-classic
Everything is more or less satisfied, even unusually large at first the panel at the top of the screen already began to seem normal. Perhaps it's still a matter of habit.

at the risk of running into the wrath of the holivarians, but I will say to myself, without claiming to be the truth.
Until recently, the only thing that did not suit me in XFCE was the difficulty of creating shortcuts on the panel (yes, yes ... nothing funny, the devil is in the details).
After upgrading to ubuntu 11.10 I had to try xubuntu again. Fortunately for me, now shortcuts to the panel are dragged from the menu with a simple drag and drop. Hooray! Farewell, third dwarf!
I set up the appearance of XFCE in the same way as before there was a gnome2, that my wife even noted: “finally, I returned it as it was.”

I also killed the gnome that I was offered at 11.04 and put the usual gnome in manual mode.
The panel was not loaded at the same time, so I had to write a boot script in which to register the launch:
gnome-panel
wait 10 seconds
Launch Skype and everything else that is built into the panel

Just wanted to create the same question. Author, did you find a solution? I want a familiar desktop, with customizable panels, so that Compiz effects work.
I looked at Gnome 3 Fallback - horror, huge panels, 2 times less settings than Gnome2 had.
xfce tried, unusual.
On one laptop, I temporarily rolled back to 10.04 (because LTS), so I don’t know what to do with the working 11.04 - I need to work, and not configure the panels for a couple of days ...

A similar question wanted to transfer to Unity, it was specially updated from 10.04, but it got some kind of enchanting horror, something constantly falls off, does not work.

Now if suddenly, it is still relevant.
