Blank Activity = Basic Activity in Android Studio 3.0+?
I'm learning android app development. Before that, usually all considered video tutorials or tasks from various sites began with the creation of a project based on Empty Activity.
Now I bought a book from Big Nerd Ranch on Android development, as amended in 2016. There, the very first application starts not with an Empty Activity, but with a Blank Activity. However, in my Android Studio 3.0+ Blank Activity is not suggested when creating a project. The only thing that looks like it is the Basic Activity.
The question is - in Android Studio 3.0+ Basic Activity - is it renamed the old Blank Activity or not? Because, when I started googling, I saw a lot of screenshots from previous years, where when creating a project in Android Studio, Blank Activity and Basic Activity were offered at the same time, which is not observed now ...

Throw away this book, it doesn't matter at all. Real developers don't use this wizard, learning it is pointless. Take a course on udacity, read developers.android.com
