Bitrix: how are product reviews usually implemented?

I am engaged in the integration of layout into the catalog component. I got to the functionality of product reviews, which in the standard version is implemented through the catalog.comments component. I looked inside, and, frankly, in shock, everything looks very confused: everything is divided into a bunch of files, with a bunch of JS scripts, there is a long and branched chain of component nesting (catalog.comments -> blog.post.comment -> main.post.form -> main.ui.selector and others).

A question for those who have extensive experience working with Bitrix - based on your practice, how are product reviews usually implemented in ordinary projects? Which method is the most typical and common? Is the design pulled on the standard catalog.comments component, or do they use their own or third-party solutions? I just can’t believe that on relatively simple and cheap projects, layout is integrated into catalog.comments - I’m just starting to delve into it, but in terms of confusion, it seems to me comparable to the notorious sale.order.ajax ...
