best practices. An algorithm for creating or ready-made shopping cart solutions for an online store on Django 1.11?

Good day to all ;)
I ask experienced/experienced jangists to suggest to the beginner the correct algorithm for creating a basket for a small online store on Django 1.11.3 (the latest for the current date). That is, right here for morons: what, where, how and why :D Google comes across tutorials, but for very old versions (1.4, for example), so their value in 2017 is minimal.
Maybe there are ready-made packages? I myself found this one , but there is the latest version dated February 6, 2016 and this one , but there is a release dated May 23, 2016 .. that is, I'm afraid that they are no longer supported and will have to dance with a tambourine in the future when the latest version is released Django with depricates of functionality from these packages (as is usually the case in an open-source environment).
