Asus router - is it possible to set up a VPN server via telnet or ssh?
Good day, gentlemen.
2 questions:
1) There is an ASUS RT-N10PV2 router. There is no VPN server setting function in the firmware. Is it possible to raise a VPN server on the router using telnet or SSH?
2) If you take a router whose firmware supports VPN, is it possible in principle to set up a VPN server on the router via telnet or SSH?
Thanks for the replies.

Hello, I want my refrigerator to bake donuts, can it be done using SSh or telnel.))))
If VPn, ssh and telnet are implemented in the firmware, then it’s possible, if not, then not how.
And one without the other is not like.
If it is possible to take any router you like, then you should first google about OpenWrt on it and take the one that has the necessary capabilities. On the specified router, OpenWrt performance has not been confirmed. That is, the firmware seems to be as it is, but whether it will work - FIG knows ...
Unfortunately, there is no opportunity to take another router, I'm interested in what can be done with this, without flashing it. And is it possible, in theory, to raise a VPN server via telnet or ssh?
If I'm not mistaken, ASUS RT-N10PV2 has only 4 MB of internal memory and 32 MB of RAM, I doubt very much that third-party firmware can be installed there without much effort, but I generally keep quiet about the stability of its operation.
1) Theoretically, you can open up your native firmware and shove a VPN there, but it's not worth it. See above.
2) On firmware like openwrt - you can. If we have firmware from Asus that supports VPN, then you can simply raise a SOCKS proxy via ssh using the -D port_number key, put this proxy in Firefox, and configure the VPN through a regular web interface.
