Assembler: Intel vs AT&T: what are the pros and cons?

So far, I can say that Intel's is much easier to both perceive and write. But GNU's is more common when it comes to GCC (and not only, I guess). In fact, this is just a different pronunciation of the same words. So is there any cardinal, really noteworthy difference?

Well, someone learns Spanish, someone learns English. And the same thought is conveyed ... Who likes what more.
At first, Intel seemed easier to me, too, because I got used to manuals from Intel. And over time, ateshny became faster to read.
