asp.net file upload, security

I plan to work with e-book files, including epub (zip with xhtml, images, SVG, etc.) and display to users.
I plan to place nested images and other media files in unzipped form in a subdirectory with the site. How dangerous is this in terms of site and user security?
So far the only thing that comes to mind is removing tags to prevent js from being used.
The site on asp.net mvc, is not yet familiar with the iis setup.
Does it make sense to use a second server, for example on unix, to store these files, or can you do without it?

And you need to store the file in the database. For example MS SQL Server.
