ASP.NET and small projects. Does it make sense?

Is it possible to do small projects in ASP (and is it convenient)?
Are hosting prices very different compared to php hosting. Is it the same for site administration?
What are the advantages of php over asp (or vice versa)
Thanks in advance for the answers

I started learning programming in asp.net. I made a small series of web services, later I simply combined them into one whole. I will say right away that c# is required. Of course, you can get by with SQL, if you know it very well :) I ended up with asp.net, c#, MSSQL Stored procedures. Everything from scratch and immediately was very confusing, and since I don’t know PHP, I don’t have an option to compare them at all, but when I’m more or less used to all this, there are no special problems anymore.
And all this porridge seems even very convenient, and most importantly - fast. Well, as already mentioned, you can implement everything here and there. So it's up to you to decide)
And yes, hosting services and the price really do not differ much.

Things are changing pretty fast in ASP.NET right now, cross-platform is currently being added, and ASP.NET 5 will already support Linux. Therefore, if you are afraid that Windows + IIS is required, then this will change soon. Although it is already possible to run projects with some limitations using Mono.
Hosting prices are already not much different, go at least to reg.ru and compare, there are almost the same prices.
Administration will naturally be different in principle. It's one thing to download a php script, another thing is even a small project on asp net and then manage it. Another thing is that there and there no special difficulties with administration should arise.
There are pros and cons to both, but for the most part, all the pros and cons are subjective, so I wouldn't focus too much on them.
For small projects, I would advise php, however, a lot depends on what the project represents and what development is planned for it in the future.

ASP pulls the Microsoft technology stack, so yes, they are different.
What is "site administration" in this context is not very clear.

If you know ASP - it's convenient. Well, if you manage to find a customer who agrees to this.
It seems to me that ASP is alive in the intranet segment and, to some extent, around enterprise development, there are vanishingly few projects on the web on it. This is a subjective point of view based on personal experience and acquaintances, maybe I'm wrong.
