Are there technologies for local location of an object (not GPS\Glonass)?

There is an enterprise. There are thousands (tens of thousands) of objects at the enterprise, the locations of which would be useful to know (cars, forklifts, cranes, people, certain mechanisms, packaging of finished products, etc.) It is stupid to attach GPS to each of these objects: firstly, very expensive, secondly they are immediately stolen.
It occurred to me that, perhaps, there are technologies for local determination of the position of objects on the same principles that GPS \ Glonass are built on: a couple of pieces of local transmitters are installed in the corners of the enterprise (their coordinates are precisely known and unchanged), and receivers.
At the same time:
1. The cost of receivers is lower, since the signal needs to be caught not from satellites flying hell-where, but from transmitters located a couple of hundred meters away.
2. It makes no sense to steal receivers - they are useless outside the enterprise.
Is there something similar in a ready (semi-finished) form?

With the goal of minimizing the cost of devices hanging on tracked objects, RFID is your only option. Passive RFID tags work up to a meter away, so you probably need active ones (with their own power), they cost about a few dollars apiece. But the receivers are quite expensive.
You can also consider the Ubisense system - it costs tens of thousands of dollars, but devices that cling to tracked objects are useless in themselves (well, if you only poked around the batteries). The receivers are indeed hung in the corners of the building, connected to the local network, and have an accuracy of the order of tens of cm.

I did not meet the required ready-made version, but my sleeping brain gave birth to an uncomplicated version. Paste protective chips (as in self-service stores) and install detector frames in key places, which will be combined into a single network. The option is relatively cheap and harsh, but it will allow you to determine in which of the rooms the object is located.

Googled an interesting patent. They propose to determine the position according to the GSM principle - relative to the base stations. BS are just placed in the corners of the enterprise.

We have a company in Krasnoyarsk, NVIC Radius, which produces radar equipment and related software for detecting objects in mines. I think it can be installed at the enterprise. www.radius-nvic.ru/ here is a site like hers!

Has anyone come across Nanoloc chips? What is the cost of a solution with these chips, what is the accuracy. The manufacturer promises an accuracy of about half a meter.
