Are there programs for analyzing hard disk dumps?
Hello
, I study at the university, I was given a task, I don’t know where to start.
Given byte-for-byte RAW dumps of hard drives as .raw files. Disks contain multiple partitions. Partitions are not formatted. All disks have 512-byte sectors. Determine about each:
1. type of file system,
2. where it is located on the disk (offset in sectors from the beginning of the disk)
3. size (in sectors).
4. for MBR disks: What is the partition type code (Id?) Is the partition bootable (active)?
5. for a GPT table: What is the purpose of a partition?
It seems to me that there should be a program that does at least part of the work. If there is, could you please advise? Or maybe there is some useful infa that is worth reading, otherwise I don’t even know where to start.
Sincerely, Vladimir Stromov
