Are there lightweight MVC frameworks for JavaEE?

In the upcoming Java EE 8, a new MVC specification is promised, but it won't be released soon, and the current Ozark implementation is nailed to Jersey. Perhaps there are some implementations of MVC based on Jax-rs?

better Spring WebMVC is hard to come up with, especially given the Spring ecosystem
