Are there GPS modules working in request-response mode?
Hello!
I am not familiar with the configuration of GPS modules and their functions. There was only the practice of choosing the structure of the NMEA protocol on a Chinese fake for UBLOX NEO-6.
A task has appeared in which it is necessary for the GPS module to work in the request-response mode, and not in the mode of constant MNEA spamming with data over the channel.
Can anyone tell me if there is such a mode of operation for GPS modules and where to dig to set it up if possible?
So far, I have attached an Arduino Pro Mini to the GPS module, which parses the NMEA stream and responds with the necessary data on an external request, but this is a "crutch". I would like native support for this mode.
Thank you!

The same UBLOX can be switched to UBX mode by turning off NMEA transmission, and then requesting the necessary data: "All messages that are output by the receiver in a periodic manner (ie Messages in Classes MON, NAV and
RXM) can also be polled."
For UBLOX, there is a rather powerful "u-center" utility, which is convenient to use for such experiments with the module's operating modes.
