Are there any instructions for creating icons for the site?
So it goes.
Once upon a time I saw an article that described the correct creation of a set of icons for the site.
The necessary formats and names were described there.
For example, in addition to favicon, icons for Apple devices (called apple-touch-icon) were described in, in my opinion, two formats.
I can’t find a similar instruction in any way, maybe someone has it in their bookmarks?
I want to throw the designer

There is an instruction, called TK from the client.
All sites do differently and the requirements for each task are different. A single approach to creation can only be when working in an office / team, when you yourself set the standards for the product. I say this as a specialist in creating icons) Some clients have good specialists who can work with modern technologies, while others have woodpeckers who still insert icons in a jeep. This is the first.
Secondly, site icons and favicons are somewhat different things. The number of favicon sizes can be only two (16px and 32px for retina), or about fifteen (for different display cases on mobile devices). For some sites and their owners, this is critical, but for others it is not at all. their target audience does not use mobile Internet. It turns out the same thing - you first need to discuss with the client.
Thirdly, all sizes for Apple devices (as well as for devices from other manufacturers) are indicated in the guidelines and it would not be a problem to find them, if there was a desire.
Here is one example of what favicons you can cook. You can just like this:
and maybe also
The final list is discussed with the technologist, designer, or those who understand in your team there.
