Are there any general principles for constructing structural block diagrams when designing devices?

I'm working on a device and trying to arrange logical blocks somehow together. That is, there is a main controller, there are some auxiliary controllers. Everyone is responsible for their own functions, and so on. Visualizing this is not a problem for me. But where can I read information in general about the principles of correctly working on such tasks? That is how it should be done correctly.
