Are business process and business process the same thing?

Explain intelligibly the concept of BP in Bitrix. Once I worked with them (maybe in 2014), but casually and more from the point of view of an ordinary programmer - I wrote the code and that's it ...
What is actually not clear:
1 The processes presented on this tab are what:

I imagine it as algorithms which can be executed, but I don't see an option to run them anywhere.
Moreover, when I click on one of these elements, I get to the page of the list of elements of the IB with the same name. What are the IB elements in this list (I have it empty)? I guess that these should be process instances, but I don’t understand how to create an instance (start a business process).
2 If I select "Configure process" in the list of Actions on this page, I will get into the meager form of IS configuration. OK. Let's assume that IB is a "process".
3 If I select "Set up business processes" then I get into the IB list - this seems unexpected to me, because I am on the "process" page, and I select an action on it, why one of the actions on the "process" leads me to the list of "processes" ". Are all "processes" subordinate to each of them? Worse, if I click on a list item, I'll be taken to an algorithm editing page called "Edit Business Process Template". It follows that "business process template" and "business process" are one and the same.
It also follows from the fact that if you press the button "
However, if I try to edit the template parameters on this page, it turns out that a form similar to 1 will open and this is the process editing form.
Thus, it turns out that the "process" and the business process template template are the same thing. This means that a business process template is based on a process, and a process is an instance of a business process template. Thus, a contradiction arises, which apparently arises from the fact that two different things are called business processes in the context of the interface.
But in general, I have only one question - how to start a business process manually in order to debug it.
I reviewed a bunch of videos that either describe what to do if a running business process requires a reaction, or how to create a business process. Between them is a black hole in which it somehow starts, but nowhere is it described how and why.
I understand how to create an algorithm, I understand how to react to situations generated by the process of executing the algorithm, but I don’t understand how to start this process :'(
