Are Awwwards layouts up to date?

I think many self-respecting designers and web developers monitor all sorts of resources, such as awwwards, and see quite creative projects there. With all sorts of animations, creatives and other super-design solutions. I understand that 99% of those sites are created for the sake of awards, but do you think that such projects could be relevant for ordinary Internet users at the moment and be used for banal commercial sites? Or, at the moment, the society is not particularly ready for such creatives and it is worth lowering the bar of thought a little and moving closer to more familiar layouts, leaving all this for the already prepared target audience and receiving awards at awwwards?

Depends on specific projects. For the most part, UX is very lame in favor of the visual component and non-trivial animation, but there are also many projects with great visual concepts and well-polished ux. So there you need to dig further and find exactly what you need. In terms of commerce, some of them, thanks to their non-standard presentation, can significantly increase sales. And yes, not all of them are created for awards;)

You won't do anything up to the best of awwwards.
