Are 8 processor threads relevant in a developer's work?

Will I get something from 8 threads instead of 4?
I use windows 10, virualbox, ubuntu, well, every software is there, like everyone else, little by little notepad++ , winscp.
And so, is there any point in i7 hq instead of i5 hq?

For compilers that support extra threads, a lot.
For example, for gcc (c ++) or grunt (web) it is much faster if you set the parameters.
