Android Studio, WebView, HTML. How to upload pictures?

There is a simple reference book, the details of which consist of arrays. Loading information was originally stored in assets in .txt files, shown using WebView . But there were some problems with the encoding, which were solved by replacing .txt with .html , inside which I forced the desired encoding. The text is displayed without problems. By all the laws of html, I added pictures that are in the same folder as the html files themselves. When opening your files in browsers, all pictures are loaded without problems. Just the way I need it. But on android this does not happen at all, and instead of the picture, the text that I set in html is shown so that it is shown instead of the unloaded picchi.
Could this be related to the resolution of the image? If not, have you had this experience? I just want advice, point out the right path, I'll get there myself.
I tried to google ten times for several days in a row, entering all possible variations of the question. It did not lead to success, as you can see.
