android.intent.action.PROCESS_TEXT constraint?

Processing the text from "android.intent.action.PROCESS_TEXT" ran into a non-obvious problem: large text is cut off to 1000 characters. There is practically no documentation about this intent at all, I did not find any explanations. Hence the question: is this a limitation of Android or my particular system (EMUI 9, I'm writing on the phone)? And is there a way to get around this?
