What do you want: a blog, a portal, a business card, a forum, an online store? The goals are different. If you take from the universal ones (using straight handles), then wordpress, modx, Drupal, ip.board will do. Each has its own advantages and disadvantages, like cars.

I have tried almost everything. The very first were, like, probably, the majority of joomla and wordpress. At first it seemed convenient. Then I got wiser, I realized that especially on Joomla I would have to suffer with the promotion of the site, a lot needs to be cleaned in the code. If you want to make an online store, then it’s not so simple with Joomla either, I’m not talking about WordPress. I also worked with other engines (MODX, Bitrix, Drupal) and I can say that everywhere there are drawbacks and you still have to finish the handles if you want a good resource. The last engine I dealt with is DotPlant2, while for me it is in the lead, but this is if you understand the Yii2 framework. But if yes, then you can implement anything you want, especially since the engine is free, flexible and for the promotion of sharpening, SEO edits can be made without any problems at all

MODx Evo - can be sharpened for anything.
+:
Everything is easy and simple.

The code in the database
. If you look into the code, then the shit code burns your eyes.
.I don’t know how it is now, before there was a limit on the number of documents of about 5000. Think about how there is no such limit, a cache of all pages is built there, and now it is pulled up for each request. Well, in short, PHP starts to blunt if there is not enough memory.

Of course, we have our own, we have been dealing only with stores for more than 5 years, and after going through about 10 different engines we wrote our own - minicart.su - demo, purchase here minicart.ru

  1. Sometimes there are bugs
  2. No adaptive layout (in progress)
  3. It's hard to do something other than a store =)
