I read the analysis twice, and I still do not understand what you find fault with.
I noticed that the author of the post wanted to spit on someone else's code. Most of the points are quibbles in the style of "this code is bad, because I write to a friend." Lack of mallocs - IMHO orientation to embedded, no more.
I will agree unless with clumsy names of macroes. Yet global variables are not marked as static. For pure programmers, this is often at the level of a reflex, but for some reason it’s not here ...
Modern programmers write such shitty code that they have no right to blame grandfathers.
