I noticed that the author of the post wanted to spit on someone else's code. Most of the points are quibbles in the style of "this code is bad, because I write to a friend." Lack of mallocs - IMHO orientation to embedded, no more.
I will agree unless with clumsy names of macroes. Yet global variables are not marked as static. For pure programmers, this is often at the level of a reflex, but for some reason it’s not here ...

Well, you shouldn’t treat macros like that…
Here, for example, was the answer to my question on stackexchange… (by the way, I used mine anyway, because I didn’t have time or desire to delve into the essence of boost).
