An alternative to PSD?

From time to time, I, like many others who are engaged in web development, have to open PSD files. But here are the troubles:

1) GIMP does not open them perfectly, especially when it comes to fonts and texts
2) Photoshop itself is not cheap

And the question arises: is it possible to export from Photoshop to a different format, so that one

can 1) be viewed in GIMP or another a free or cheap viewer with the ability to turn off selected layers ( mandatory ) and with all effects saved
2) you could see the font of the text ( desirable )

There are a lot of utilities that can simply open PSD for viewing, but let's say the freshest PSD IrfanViewcan open quite wildly. Is PSD such an indispensable standard and format?

Question from the series "what is the alternative *.max, *.cdr, *.ai, *.doc, *.dwg". Ideally and without problems, only the native program looks, and even in the native program, not everything is perfect with backward compatibility.
Layers individually as pages can be viewed by xnview. You can export layers to png from Photoshop with a script, but again, overlays will not work, adjustment layers too.
What you want is just GIMP, with all the flaws.

PSD is a proprietary standard with all the ensuing consequences.
At the level of plugins for GIMP, you already know everything yourself: “text, layer effects? OK Bye!"
It remains only TIFF multilayer. Otherwise, how many people will leave Adobe for GIMP.

I also suffered constantly with this,
I’m sitting on Linux, and the question is not only about the price, but also about compatibility (it’s possible through wine like, but it has its drawbacks) I
recently discovered the extract plugin from Adobe
, it can be used by some editors (brackets)
or directly in the browser
you make acc in adobe,
upload the psd file there
and work with layers, styles, etc.

ACDSee perfectly opens psd for viewing, but it is also paid, and actually only for Windows.

I meant that there may be an alternative format that supports layers, which I don’t know about, and into which you can save the prepared file from Photoshop ... And then open it in something inexpensive or free.
