An alternative format for layered vector-raster images (similar to PSD)?

I decided to switch to an easy alternative to Photoshop - GIMP, since you don't need much for layout: cut, take the color value, copy the text ... But to my disappointment, GIMP opened the file that needs to be typeset with numerous errors. All the layers just went.
Tried to use "PSD/PSB Converter to Gimp XCF layered format" but it messed up just the same.
The question is: is there such a format that would be correctly processed both in Photoshop and in Gimp? If not, how do I get GIMP to process the psd correctly, or how do I get Photoshop to save the psd in a way GIMP can understand?

There is unverified information that Paint.NET has plugins to convert its proprietary PDN format to both XCF and PSD.

There is tiff, but it is essentially a raster with layer support.
Alternatively, try to save the psd format of earlier versions in Photoshop, perhaps GIMP will work better with it
