Accessing the file system from Chrome?

There is a web application.
I would like to save data to a file in a local fs, such as C: / 1.txt or / home / user / 1.txt.
Previously, Chrome Apps were used for this - they sent a message from the site to the App, the App wrote the data to a file. Now Chrome has dropped support for Apps on all operating systems except its own.
Q: Are there any options on how to do this?

Give the extension the appropriate rights https://developer.chrome.com/apps/fileSystem
and go.
