A set of software for reading in a foreign (English) language under Linux (GNOME)?

I decided to switch from reading technical literature in English (where almost all the words are from C ++ :)) to reading fiction in the original (mostly science fiction) and ran into a problem - a lot of unfamiliar words (or the root is familiar, but the form is not). I would like to receive a translation directly in the text (tooltips or other pop-up windows) by hovering the mouse over a word and / or by highlighting a word / phrase and context menu / toolbar. The main text formats are html and pdf.
In principle, there are options, especially for HTML, but they all have a significant drawback for me - when the text is increased to 200-300% using the browser / evince, these tooltips or windows do not increase their font size, they write with the default system, or even hard-coded by the creators . In practice, this means that you only have to read while sitting at the monitor, which excludes reading while relaxing on the couch from a long distance. And I usually read fiction when I don’t have the strength to sit and I want to lie down, including reading for half an hour before going to bed.
Has anyone encountered similar problems? How did you decide?
