A program to record changes?

Everyone, good afternoon!
Once upon a time, under Windows (probably 2000) there was a utility that logged all changes in the system. That is, I do
1) I create a “system image1”
2) I launch the program installer
3) I create a “system image2”
4) I compare the “system image2” and “system1 image” - as a result I get a list of directories and registry keys (where the program was installed)
Who is what the utility uses for performance of such task?
PS
I'm not going to make a portable version, I just need to install one non-standard program under
Wine and I don't want to deal with "configuration" for a long time. The utility is being searched for Windows7 (XP) ...
Everyone, thank you in advance for the invaluable experience!

Unfortunately, I do not know such a program, but I can advise Process Monitor (http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/bb896645) for those cases when some program cannot work normally on a machine where not all installed or not enough administrator rights.

The good old Regshot, it turns out, continues to live its own life , having changed several developers.
The program compares "before" and "after" snapshots of the registry. Plus, apparently, added the ability to monitor the specified directories.
(Perhaps they managed to cut something in return. Then you can search Google for the “classic” version.)

Well, as nonsense: registry export before and after, text diff.
