301 redirect when moving a site?

The site is now on simple cms. I would like to transfer to wordpress.
links on the simple now are of the following nature main.ru/category/page
On wordpress, I would like to shorten the length of the url and change all links to main.ru/page
In this regard, the question, since eternal links are bought on the main.ru/category/page of the page . changing them will cost a pretty penny in total.
Should the url be shortened? whether it is useful for the search engine. And with 301 redirects, is all the weight transferred?

I don't think the decision to change the url has more advantages. Firstly, all redirected pages will drop out of the search, and new ones will not immediately take their place. Secondly, if sometime the redirects go down, then the links will go down too. In addition, category pages can be important landing pages for general targeted queries.

Does it even make sense to change the platform from simply to vp?

Why not ? You have purchased links. We spent money on them. Webmaster will burn a broken link on its site and remove it.
Why not useful ? Search engines don't like redirects. And they are extremely reluctant to crawl links on them
